1. Short News

The Society would like to congratulate Ordinary Member Vicky Kalogera for her integral role in the detection of the multi-messenger source GW170817 by the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO). This historic development brought together, for the first time, observations across the electromagnetic spectrum with gravitational radiation. The Society is delighted to be informed of Prof. Kalogera's role and extends its best wishes to her for further successes in her professional pursuits.

The Society would like to congratulate Ordinary Member Sotiria Fotopoulou for securing an Advanced Postdoc Mobility Grant by the Swiss National Science Foundation. In the framework of this grant, Dr Fotopoulou has now moved to the Center for Extragalactic Astronomy of the Physics Department at Durham University, United Kingdom. The Society extends its best wishes to Dr. Fotopoulou for further successes in her career pursuits.

2. Proposal Evaluations: ΕΔΒΜ34 Call by the Ministry of Education
The tentative proposal evaluation results for the Call ΕΔΒΜ34 "Support for Researchers, with Emphasis on Young Researchers" of the Ministry of Education's Education and Lifelong Learning Program can be found here. The Call referred to proposals submitted by March 22, 2017.

Further actions and the objection process were completed in October and the selected new projects are expected to kick off early next year.
