       Transportation

        Travelling to Heraklion:

 

ü      By air: There are several daily flights  to Heraklion  airport from Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as  from some European airports.

ü      By boat:There are at least two boat trips per day from Pireaus Port to Heraklion. The overnight trips last about 10 hours (departure at 8:00 noon from Pireaus, arrival at 5:30am) with ANEK Lines , and about 6 hrs with MINOAN Lines (departure at 10:00 noon from Pireaus, arrival at 5:15am, but possibility to stay on the boat till 7:30 am). There are also some day trips, usually on Fridays (Minoan lines, departure at 12:30 noon from Pireaus, arrival at 18:30 at Heraklion).

 

       Getting to the Conference Location (Fodele)

ü      By Bus The public bus departs from the central Heraklion bus station at Heraklion harbour, at 09.00,  and 14.30. 

      The station is within 5 min walk from the disembarkation area of the boats from Pireaus. 

      If you arrive by plane, you have to get to the station from the airport either by taxi (cost about 1500 drs) or by public bus.

ü      By taxi : Cost, about 6000-7000drs, duration about 25 min

 

 Visa requirements

ü      Citizens of the European Union do not need a visa to visit Greece

ü      Holders of a valid VISA SENGΗEN can visit Greece (or any European country)

ü      For the following countries no visa is required to visit Greece:

  The Vatican, St. Marino, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Switzerland, USA, Japan

Israel, Canada, Cyprus, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, N. Zealand, S. Korea, Honduras, Hungary, Panama, Paraguay, Polland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Chech Republic, Chile

If you do not belong to the one of the above categories you should get a visa from the nearest Greek Embassy or Consulate.
