Conference Program Participants Location Hotel Information Registration Form back page    Conference Location The Conference will take place at the Penteli Astronomical Station of the National Observatory of Athens, Palaia Penteli, Lofos Koufou, I. Metaxa & Vas. Pavlou. The Conference will take place in the Hall of the Newall Telescope Dome while some of the parallel sessions will be held in the Seminar Room of the Main Building (see the Conference Program). There will be a bus hired by the National Observatory departing Penteli at 18:30. If you plan to use public transport instead please take the Metro to the Thiseio (the Line #1 Peiraias-Kifisia) or to Acropolis (the Line #2 Sepolia-Dafni). The Observatory is about 500 meters from either the station (15 min walk). Using your own car is not recommended as many roads around the Observatory have now become pedestrian roads making the access quite complicated.   Using a car Leoforos Pentelis runs all the way up to Palaia Penteli. This road starts from Leoforos Kifisias and then it passes from Halandri and Vrilisia. Leoforos Pentelis can be accessed also from the Attiki Odos Highway (Exit: Leoforos Pentelis). Having passed the "Moni Pentelis" Monastery, at the end of Leoforos Pentelis (at the Palaia Penteli Square) follow the sign to the Obvservatory, turning right. The Observatory is about 500 meters from Palaia Penteli square. The Main Building The Newall Telescope Using public transport You can get the Metro #1 (Peiraias-Kifisia) to Marousi. Just outside the station is the bus to Penteli (446), or you can take a taxi (about 5€). Buses to Penteli run also from the northern suburb of Halandri (426, 451). Alternatively there is a bus (Municipality of Penteli) connecting the "Ethniki Amyna" Station (Metro #3 Monastiraki-Ethniki Amyna) with Palaia Penteli. The bus runs every hour departing from the Metro at 07:00 am. The bus leaves you at Palaia Penteli Square, station named "Haravgi", about 500 meters away from the Observatory (~15 min walk).
