International Astronomical Union (IAU)
In its role, as the official representative of Greece to the International Astronomical Union (IAU) , the Greek National Committee for Astronomy is authorized to propose, at each General Assembly, Greek Astronomers as candidate members of the IAU.
The XXIX General Assembly of the IAU will take place in Honolulu, Hawaii United States, in August 2015. The President of the GNCA will contact, as he has done in the past, the Astronomy and Astrophysics Community in Greece, in order to invite greek scientists who are not yet IAU members and fulfill the ΙΑU membership criteria to apply by the 30th of November 2014. Interested Greek astronomers can download the application guidelines for the IAU membership here (PDF file). Finally, we provide here the actual application in two forms (DOC and PDF). Interested Greek astronomers should fill in the application and send it either by e-mail or by normal post to the president of the GNCA.
The GNCA acknowledges the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) for its generous assistance in paying to the IAU the dues of Greece to the Union.

ASTRONET
ASTRONET is an ERA-net (European Research Area network) program, funded by the European Union, with the aim of establishing a comprehensive long-term planning for the development of European astronomy. The objective of this effort is to consolidate and reinforce the world-leading position that European astronomy has attained at the beginning of this 21st century by coordinate the European science funding agencies to meet up the astronomy-related funding and organization challenges for the next 20 years. It started in September 2005 and to-date it has produced the the "Science Vision for European Astronomy" and the "Infrastrucuture Roadmap" (which was recently approved by the ASTRONET board) after the successful meeting in Liverpool earlier this year (16-19 June 2008).
Following the successful and highly attended ASTRONET Roadmap Symposium, that took place in Liverpool between the 16th and 19th of June 2008, the ASTRONET board approved the final version of the "Infrastructure Roadmap" on the 10th of October 2008. The full report will be available around mid-November. We make available however the executive summary of the final report
