1. SHORT NEWS

Prof. Krimigis, a member of our Society, was recently appointed as the Chairman of the Greek National Council for Research and Technology (ESET). We would like to congratulate him on this, and wish him a productive and successful service.

We would like to congratulate Dr. Thomas Bisbas, who recently moved to the University College London on a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship to continue his work on theoretical modeling of star formation.

 
2. THE TENTH CONFERENCE OF HEL.A.S.

The Governing Council of Hel.A.S. decided that the 10th Conference of the Society will take place at Ioannina from the 5th until the 8th of September 2011. More information on the conference will become available in upcoming newsletters.

 
3. ESA CALL OF IDEAS FOR THE ISS

ESA has announced a Call for Ideas for using the International Space Station (ISS) from 2011 onwards for specific experiments, spacecraft systems, subsystems and components, technology demonstrations, operations, outreach and education, in preparation for human exploration beyond Low Earth Orbit. The call is open to scientific institutes, academia, national organisations including national agencies, entrepreneurs, industries and ESA staff. The deadline for the "letter of interest" is 05 November 2010, and for the proposal is 26 November 2010. More information can be obtained at:
