1. SHORT NEWS

Prof. E. Plionis recently moved to the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki to take up his position as Professor of Observational Astrophysics in the Physics Department.

 
2. THE ELEVENTH CONFERENCE OF HEL.A.S.

The web page of the 11th Hellenic Astronomical Conference has been set up with information regarding the organizing committees, the list of plenary speakers, the speaker of the public talk, which traditionally opens the conferences of the Society, details about financial help to our Junior Members, and upcoming deadlines. 3. SPACE ASTRONOMY SUMMER PROGRAM AT STScI.

Each summer, the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) runs a ``Space Astronomy Summer Program" (SASP). STScI is the scientific operations center for the Hubble Space Telescope and the future James Webb Space Telescope. The SAS Program runs from mid-June to mid-August, and is designed for upper division undergraduates (and early postgraduates) with a strong interest in space astronomy. Students work individually with STScI researchers and staff on research projects that might include data reduction and interpretation, software development, scientific writing, preparing data for public releases. The program affords students the opportunity to attend lectures on a variety of exciting topics related to space astronomy, the Hubble, and James Webb Space Telescopes. The application submission will open on Wednesday, January 02, 2013. For more information, please visit:
