1. Short News |
The Society would like to congratulate Nikos Sioulas, recent graduate of the Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences at UCLA, for his new postdoctoral position at the University of California, Berkeley. The Society extends its best wishes for further success in his professional pursuits.

2. The 43rd General Assembly |
The 43rd General Assembly (GA) took place in hybrid mode on June 28, 2024 at the Department of Physics of the University of Athens. The GA was preceded by a colloquium of Prof. Vlahakis entitled "Open questions in astrophysical jets". During the GA 7 new junior members 4 new ordinary members and 1 new associate member of the Society were elected, bringing the total membership to an all time high of 311 members.

3.The 2024-2026 Elections of Hel.A.S. |
During the elections that took place electronically via the platform "Zeus" on June 28, 2024, the President of the Society, as well as a new Council and Auditors for the 2024-2026 term were elected. Of the 165 ordinary and junior members of the Society eligible to vote a total of 109 ballots were cast. The results of the elections were:

4. Summer School of Hel.A.S. |
The 5th summer school of the Society, entitled "Magnetohydrodynamics in Astrophysics", will take place in Ioannina during 16-20 September 2024. The deadline for registration and recommendation letter submission has been extended to July 15, 2024. More information about the summer school, which is also sponsored by the Univ. of Ioannina, is available here.

5. 2024 NEON Observing School
|
The 2024 NEON Observing school will take place in Greece at the facilities of the National Observatory of Athens 13 - 25 October 2024. During the school we will use in person the 2.3 meter Aristarchos telescope and 1.2 metre Kryoneri telescope. In addition we will obtain data also from the 2 meter Liverpool Telescope. Liverpool Telescope is a robotic telescope located on La Palma in Spain. More information about the school is available here.
