The latest issue of Hipparchos newsletter has been just sent to
all members. Check your mailboxes! For a sneak preview, you may
download it as a postscript file from the web site of Hel.A.S.
On October 24, Dr. Demosthenes Kazanas gave his inaugural talk as a
"corresponding member" of the Academy of Athens, on the
"Past, present and future of Cosmology"
2. MEMBERS IN NEW POSITIONS

- Dr. Spyros Basilakos has recently moved to a research associate
position at the Astrophysics Group of the Imperial College (UK).
- Mr. Aristidis Karidis has recently moved to the Department of
Physics and Astronomy of the University of Wales, Cardif (UK).
- Dr. Yannis Papaphilippou was appointed Staff Scientist in the
Accelerator Physics Division of the Collider Accelerator Department at
Brookhaven National Laboratory (USA).
3. SUMMER ASTRONOMY INTERNSHIPS IN THE US
