1. Short News

We would like to congratulate Anna Konstantinou for successfully completing her PhD thesis entitled "Unveiling the role of magnetization in galaxy evolution through numerical simulations" at the Department of Physics of the University of Crete under the supervision of Prof. Eva Ntormousi. The Society extends its best wishes to Dr. Konstantinou for further successes in her professional pursuits. 

We would like to congratulate Argyrios Loules for successfully completing his PhD thesis entitled "Modelling of Resistive Relativistic Astrophysical Outflows" at the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens under the supervision of Prof. Nektarios Vlahakis. The Society extends its best wishes to Dr. Loules for further successes in his professional pursuits. 

We would like to congratulate Evgenia Koutsoumpou for successfully completing her PhD thesis entitled "Cosmic-Ray Feedback in Active Galactic Nuclei and Starburst Galaxies: Influence on Interstellar Gas Clouds" at the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens under the supervision of Associate Prof. Kalliopi Dasyra. The Society extends its best wishes to Dr. Koutsoumpou for further successes in her professional pursuits. 

 
2. Scientific discussion: "Promoting women in science: struggles and perspectives"  

On occasion of the International Women's Day (8 March 2026) the French Institute of Greece will host a scientific discussion entitled "Promoting women in science: struggles and perspectives". Among the invited participants is Dr. Alceste Bonanos (National Observatory of Athens) who will contribute her insights to the conversation. 

The event will take place on March 9, 2026 at 19:00 at the Theo Angelopoulos Auditorium, which is located at the French Institute of Greece.

 
   
3. ESA Archival Research Visitor Programme  

We would like to inform our members about the new call for the ESA Archival Research Visitor Programme. The Programme is intended to support in particular early-career scientists who plan to do research using data in the ESA Space Science Archives.

Applications received by 30 April 2026, 23:59 UTC, will be considered for visits in autumn 2026 and winter 2027.

4. Call for Expression of Interest  

We would like to inform our members about an open Call for Expression of Interest for Seconded National Experts at the European Research Council Executive Agency. Particular attention is given to profiles related to the Support to the Scientific Council (Policy Analysis). For more information, please refer to this document.

 
   
5. Hel.A.S. Travel Grants  

We would like to remind our Junior Members that the second call for the Hel.A.S. Travel Grants will open in April 2026 for meetings occurring during the year's second half (July - December). The deadline for submitting the application is on June 15 2026. More information can be found here.

All members are strongly encouraged to check their information on the Society's webpage and contact the Secretary if any updates are needed. Your prompt feedback for any address/institution changes is essential in order to keep this directory up to date!
