1. SHORT NEWS

The "Best PhD of the year award" will be in the agenda of the next
Council meeting of Hel.A.S. Please send you recommendations to the
Secretary of Hel.A.S. as soon as possible.
2. MEMBERS IN NEW POSITIONS
---------------------------
Mr. Dimitris Stamatellos has recently moved to the Dept. of Physics
and Astronomy of the University of Wales, Cardiff (UK), for his Ph.D.
studies, after receiving his Master's degree at Rice University (USA).
3. JOB OPENINGS
---------------
A new tenured track position at the level of "Lecturer" in the
field of "Mechanics" has opened at the Department of Physics of the
University of Athens. The application deadline is April 30, 2001.

or "Lecturer" in the field of "Astrophysics" has opened at the
Department of Physics of the University of Thessaloniki. The
application deadline is May 8, 2001.

Assembly of the Society, are:

5. EC FUNDING FOR ACCESS TO CANARIAN OBSERVATORY TELESCOPES
-----------------------------------------------------------
A very interesting opportunity for researchers from Greece, who wish
to use the telescopes at the Canary Islands (also known as European
Northern Observatory, ENO), has become available.
Under the auspices of the European Community's Access to Research
Infrastructures Program, EC funding to cover travel, accommodation,
and subsistence costs will be available to ENO observers meeting
certain criteria of eligibility. For further details refer to:
