4. ARTICLES FOR THE NEXT ISSUE OF HIPPARCHOS
--------------------------------------------
Most of you must have received by now the December 2001 issue of
the Hipparchos Newsletter. Following the recommendation of the
governing council of the Hellenic Astronomical Society, for an
upgrade of the newsletter, we have introduced two new permanent
columns ("News & Views" and "Review Article"). We hope that with
your help we will further improve the quality of Hipparchos.
The editor of Hipparchos (Dr. Manolis Plionis) is now in the
processes of collecting articles for the next issue of Hipparchos,
which hopefully will be published by the end of May 2002.
If you wish to contribute, please send to him articles related to:
(1) Important Astronomical or related news (breakthroughs, etc).
(2) News from large Astronomical or related installations, facilities
and/or Organizations (ESO, ESA, NASA, IAU, JOSO, COSPAR, etc).
(3) News regarding Scientific conferences and schools held in Greece.
(4) Reviews of new books in astronomy or related fields.
(5) Reports of scientific and/or educational activities in Greek
Astronomy/Astrophysics Sectors and Institutes.
Articles should be written in English with WORD and should not be
very long (not more than 2-3 pages of 12pt), unless there is an
absolute necessity for it (please contact the editor in advance if
you have such a request). Photos can also be included (in JPEG or
GIF format).
A call for a REVIEW ARTICLE for the next issue of Hipparchos is
also open. Whoever is interested in writing such an article please
contact Dr. Plionis (mplionis@astro.noa.gr) before he/she embarks on
this task. The editor will collect all the applications, which
will then be discussed in the governing council of the Hellenic
Astronomical Society.
The deadline for submitting your articles is April 30 2002.
However, please let the editor know at your earliest convenience if
you are planning to contribute in any way, since this will greatly
facilitate the planning and selection process.
