Biography: |
Image and Signal Processing Research Scientist. He was born in Athens, Greece, on November 8th, 1963. He got the B.Sc. from the Department of Mathematics of the University of Athens, Greece and his Ph.D. from the Physics Department of the same University (1992). His scientific interests include Solar Physics and astronomical image processing. He has published more than 26 scientific papers in international refereed journals and about 30 papers in international conferences and special volumes. He has acted as reviewer/referee for Journals related to Image Processing and Astronomy such as Astronomy and Astrophysics. He was a postdoctoral research at the solar physics group of Caltech and a researcher at the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the National Observatory of Athens (1995-1998). |

Biography: |
Associate Professor (retired), Dept. of Physics, University of Athens, Greece. He was born in Athens,
Greece, on the 25th of March, 1944. He received the
B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Athens, Greece
(1967) and the Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the same
University (1971). He has been awarded by the Physics
Department of this University the title of Docent in
Physics (1980). He has worked as Assistant Professor
before promoted to the present rank. He has worked also
in various institutes and mainly as scientific Collaborator
at the Rome University, Physics Institute (1968-1969), at
the Max-Planck Institut für Kernphysik, Heidelberg
(1976), at the Max-Planck Institut für Astrophysik, Garching b. Muenchen (1977) and at the Max-Planck Institut Lindau, Germany (1979). His scientific interests include Space Weather, Interplanetary Space, Magnetic Clouds, Ultra High Energy Astrophysics, Pierre Auger Observatory, Natural Radioactivity and radon. He has published more than 52 scientific papers in refereed journals and more than 91 papers in conference proceedings and special volumes / books. He has also published four textbooks on “Nuclear Technology-Recent Applications”, on “Nuclear Energy-Society”, on the “Study of the Cosmic Rays via its Nuclear Component” and on the “Study of the Low-Temperature Phenomenon of Interplanetary Plasma, using VELA, IMP and HELIOS Satellite Data”. He is a member of several National and International Societies including the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.). |

Professor Emeritus, Department of Physics, University of Patras, Greece (since 2018). He was born in Nea Ionia, Attica, Greece, on the 1st of January, 1951. He got his B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Patras (1973) and his Ph.D. in Physics from the same University (1978). He has served as Professor of Physics at the Technical Educational Institute (TEI) of Patras, and as a
Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, University of Patras, before he was elected in the present position. His scientific interests include Continuum Mechanics, Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics (with emphasis on MHD), and Theoretical Astrophysics (Stellar Mathematical Models with emphasis on Computational Astrophysics of White Dwarfs and Neutron Stars). He is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and founding member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.). He has served as a member of the Hel.A.S. Council (2004-2006) as well as a member of the Greek National Committee for Astronomy (2008-2010). |
