Voglis Nikolaos (1948-2006)
Director of the Research Center of Astronomy and Applied Mathematics of the Academy of Athens, Greece. He was born in Avlon, Attica Greece and received the B.Sc. in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1971) and the Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Athens, Greece (1984). He worked as Lecturer (1996-1990), Assistant Professor (1990-1996) and Associate Professor (1996-2000) in the Department of Physics, University of Athens and as Director of Research in the Research Center for Astronomy of the Academy of Athens (2000- 2001). His scientific interests were mainly the Dynamical Astronomy, the Galaxy Formation, the Cosmology, the Chaotic Dynamics and the Solitons. He had published more than 35 scientific papers in refereed journals and more than 40 papers in conference proceedings and special volumes / books. He has been honored with the Award of the Academy of Athens. He was a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.).
