He was born in Aegaleo, Athens, Greece and received his B.Sc. in Surveying from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (1977) and the Ph.D. from the Department of Physics of the University of Athens, Greece (1985). He was interested mainly in the non-linear Dynamical systems and he had published many papers on these subjects. He was a member of the IAU and a Founding member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.).
Prantzos Nicolas

He was born in Volos, Greece on the 30th of November of 1956. He obrtained his B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Athens, Greece (1978) and the Ph.D. in Nuclear Astrophysics from the University Paris 7, France in 1986. His scientific interests include nuclear astrophysics, galaxy evolution and gamma- ray astronomy. He has published numerous scientific papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings and special volumes / books.
Preka-Papadima Panagiota
Position: Faculty, University of Athens PhD: 1985, Dept. of Physics, University of Athens, Greece Thesis: Microwave emission from loops of the lower solar corona Supervisor(s): Alissandrakis Constantine Biography: Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, University of Athens, Greece. She was born in Athens, Greece. She received her B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Athens (1977) and the Ph.D. in Solar Physics in 1985 from the same University. She worked at the University of Athens from 1978 originally as research assistant and Lecturer and retired in 2020. Her scientific interest is mainly Solar Physics (Radio emission from solar flares, combination with X-ray bursts, study of the solar activity, spatial and temporal distribution of solar activity indexes during the solar cycles, relation of solar-terrestrial phenomena) as well as in the Magnetospheres, atmospheres, morphology etc. of the planets. She has published 82 papers in international and Greek journals. She has participated in many research programs and was a referee in international scientific journals. She is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), of the European Astronomical Society (EAS), of the Planetary Society, of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.) and of the Hellenic Physical Society.
Sarafopoulos Dimitrios

Supervisor(s): Sarris Emmanuel Biography: Associate Professor, Department of Telecommunications and Space Research, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece (since 2005). He was born in Drama, Greece on the 1st of September, 1957. He obtained the B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace (1981) and the Ph.D. in Space Physics (Space Electrodynamics, Magnetospheric Physics- Energetic particles) from the same University (1987). He has worked as Lecturer (1989-1994) and as Assistant Professor (1994-2005) at the same Department. His scientific interests include Space Electrodynamics, Solar Wind-Magnetosphere-Ionosphere Interaction, ULF Pulsations in the Earth’s Magnetosphere, Storms-Substorms, Boundary events, Magnetospheric currents and Satellite Communications.
Seimenis Ioannis

He was born in Athens of the 21st of September, 1958. He received the B.Sc. in Mathematics (1985) and the Ph.D. in Physics (1989), both from the University of Athens, Greece. His early scientific interests included Dynamical Astronomy and Non-Linear Dynamical Systems. He has been honoured with the UNESCO’s N. Copernicus Prize 1988. He has worked as Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics of the University of the Aegean (1990-2000). As a member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.) organized in Samos one of its Astronomical Meetings. He was Visiting Professor/Research Associate in various European Institutions (Spain, Poland, Switzerland and Italy) and Director of numerous international scientific projects, funded by NATO and European Union (Poland, Spain, Former Yugoslavia). Since 2000 he is working in his present position. He was elected Vice-Rector for Finance & Development and Chairman of the Research Committee of the University of the Aegean (2003-2006). From 2006 to 2010 he is the Head of the Dept. of Mediterranean Studies. He is the Director of the Postgraduate Studies and Director of the Laboratory of Mediterranean Politics. His current research interests include International Relations and Disarmament.
Spyromilio Jason

Supervisor(s): Meikle William-Peter Biography: Senior Astronomer at the European Southern Observatory. He was born in Athens, Greece on the 27th of January, 1964. He reeived the B.Sc. Honours in Physics (1986) from the Imperial College of Science and Technology of the London University, and the Ph.D. in Astrophysics (1989) also from Imperial. He worked at the Anglo-Australian Observatory (AAO), Australia first as Research Fellow (1989-91) and later as a staff Astronomer.There he was instrument scientist for the Echelle spectrographs and infrared instrumentation. At ESO he led the NTT refurbishment effort and later headed the commissioning of the VLT at Paranal. He has been director of the La Silla Paranal observatory and also led the E-ELT project office at ESO. His scientific interests are centered on the Supernovae and their physics. He is a fellow of the RAS, fellow of the astronomical Society of Australia and a member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.).

Tzioumis Anastasios

He was born in Kerastari, Tripolis, Greece on the 1st of May, 1952 and he migrated to Australia in 1970. He received his B.Sc. (Honors in Physics) from the University of Sydney, Australia (1976), the B.E. (Honors in Electrical Engineering - 1978) and the Ph.D. (1987) from the same University. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Jodrell Bank, U.K (1987- 90), and has been a staff member at the Australia Telescope National Facility since 1990. He is a member of the Astronomical Society of Australia, the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.), the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the Union of Radio Science International (URSI) and COSPAR. He is involved in international radio spectrum management and he is chairman of Working Party 7D (WP7D) at the International Radiocommunications Union (ITU), chairman of the IAU Working group on RFI Mitigation, vice-chair of the scientific committee on frequency allocations for radio astronomy and space science (IUCAF) and chair of the Radio Astronomy Committee for Frequency Allocation in the Asia Pacific (RAFCAP). His main research interests are in high resolution radio astronomy using Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) techniques to study objects such as Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) to X-ray Binaries. He is also involved in technical developments for real-time VLBI (e-VLBI) using very fast networks world-wide.
Zachilas Loukas

He received his B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Athens, Greece (1982) and his Ph.D. from the Department of Physics of the same University (1988). His scientific interests include Dynamical Astronomy, Chaotic Systems, Molecular Dynamics and Economic Dynamics. He is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), of the Hellenic Mathematical Society and he has been a Member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.).
