As a first step, the IAU100 activities commonly accepted to be advertised by HelAS, will be posted on the site of our society.

3.IAU Astronomy translation network
The Astronomy Translation Network is a joint project of the Astronomical Union Office for Astronomy Outreach and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan in Tokyo. Its goal, aligned with one the IAU's many missions, is to combine the efforts of volunteer translators and astronomers to make astronomy available in as many languages as possible.Currently, the Greek Language Team is composed of three volunteers, and more volunteers (with backgrounds either in translation or astronomy) are being recruited. If you are interested in joining this effort, please contact here

4.Call for Letters of Intent for the new IAU Office
IAU intends to establish the Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE) focused on providing training and resources for using astronomy as a stimulus for teaching and education for elementary to high school level. IAU intends to establish soon the new (OAE) through an international call for proposals leading to a by-lateral agreement, similar to the ones signed for the other three IAU Offices already in operation: the Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD), the Office for Astronomy Outreach (OAO) and the Office for Young Astronomers (OYA).
5. Student and Postdoctoral Research Opportunities Abroad
The list below may be refreshed or updated with further established lists:
  • IAU PhD prize. Once a year, each IAU Division has the opportunity to award its own prize to the candidate it feels has carried out the most remarkable work in the previous year (i.e. a PhD Thesis which has been defended between December 16 of the previous year and December 15 this year). The IAU PhD prize is open to candidates from all countries, regardless of whether the country has an IAU National Membership. The deadline for applications for the 2018 IAU PhD prize is December 15, 2018.
  • A PhD position (deadline 15 November) and a post-doc position (deadline 30 November) are opened at the National Space Institute at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Space) The area of research for both positions is transient astrophysics. For more details concerning the PhD position visit: here for the post-doc position visit: here
  • AHEAD school on 'X-ray and multiwavelength surveys, 19-23 November 2018, MPE Garching. The School aims at providing young astronomers with the specific theoretical and practical skills to successfully exploit the current and future generation of large surveys. We will include in-depth discussions of both high-energy experiments and multi-wavelength surveys across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. To this end, world class experts in several fields will deliver lectures and conduct hands-on sessions, including analysis of real catalogs data. Students will have the opportunity to interact with renowned scientists in a high motivating environment. More information can be found here.
Any Member of the Society who wishes to contribute another credible link with opportunities, or individual opportunities that will, however, be shown in a single-liner format as above, is encouraged to contact the Secretary of the Society.
