1. Elections of Hel.A.S.  

The Governing Council of the Hel.A.S. informs all members that the next elections for the Council of the Society for 2026-2028 term will take place on Friday 26 June 2026, along with the 45th General Assembly (GA). More information on the forthcoming GA and the elections will become available in the following Newsletters.

Please note that according to Article 29 of the Constitution only Ordinary Members of the Society who have no outstanding membership fees, that is they have paid their 2025 membership fee, may nominate themselves or other Ordinary Members for the Council and the Auditors. Moreover, all candidates must be residing in Greece during the time of their term in office (Article 27), as well as that the nomination forms have to be returned to the Secretary of the Society no later than April 30, 2026.

 
   
2. 6th Hel.A.S. Summer School  

The 6th summer school of the Society, entitled "Multi-Messenger Astronomy", will take place in Athens during 24 - 28  August 2026. The school is co-sponsored by the Physics Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

3. Hel.A.S. Travel Grants  

We would like to inform the Junior members of our Society that we are now accepting applications for financial support for meetings occurring during the calendar year's second half (July - December 2026).  Priority will be given to Junior members who have no access to other sources of funding for their participation in conferences or workshops. The deadline for submitting the application is June 15, 2026. More information can be found here.

 
   
4. ESA Archival Research Visitor Programme  

We would like to inform our members about the new call for the ESA Archival Research Visitor Programme. The Programme is intended to support in particular early-career scientists who plan to do research using data in the ESA Space Science Archives.

Applications received by 30 April 2026, 23:59 UTC, will be considered for visits in autumn 2026 and winter 2027.

5. Call for Membership of the Envision EuroSAR Science Team  

We would like to inform our members about an open Call for Membership on behalf of Prof. Carole Mundell, Director of Science, ESA. You are invited to respond to the Call for Membership of the Envision EuroSAR Science Team. The Call, containing the information needed by the proposers, can be found at this link

The deadline for submission of proposals is 30 April 2026 at 12:00 (noon) CEST.

All members are strongly encouraged to check their information on the Society's webpage and contact the Secretary if any updates are needed. Your prompt feedback for any address/institution changes is essential in order to keep this directory up to date!
