1. SHORT NEWS
-------------
It was the 27th of February 1998 when the 1st electronic newsletter
of Hel.A.S. was sent to the 155 members of the Society who had an
e-mail account. We are happy to see that for the past four years we
have been able to maintain this monthly tradition and today we bring
this 50th newsletter to 221 members, that is 92% of the body of the
Society.
Over these past few years the electronic newsletter has served as
a rapid and inexpensive way of providing time sensitive information
and news on various astronomy related issues to the members of Hel.A.S.
This content of useful information has been its strongest asset and
it would have not been made possible without the active participation
of its audience, all us members, who provided the information in the
first place by choosing the electronic newsletter as their prefered
method of reaching our community.
The editors of the newsletter wish to express their appreciation to
all the contributors over the years for their help, as well as to the
recipients for their patience and understanding for the mistakes we
undoubtly made.
Vassilis Charmandaris & Harry Varvoglis
