   Due to a major failure of a hard disk, the web server of AUTH which
 hosts the web site of Hel.A.S. has been unavailable for the past couple
 of weeks.  Please refer to our mirror site in the US:

 until the problem is resolved.
 
 
 2. "ASTRONOMY 2000+: GREEK PROSPECTS FOR THE 21st CENTURY"
 ---------------------------------------------------------------------
 
   The council of Hel.A.S. has decided to provide financial assistance
 to five Hel.A.S. members.
   We encourage all members to try and attend this meeting, in which
 major issues, concerning the future of Greek Astronomy will be discussed. 
 
 
 3. JOB OPENING

   The Department of Physics of the University of Thessaloniki invites
applications for two positions in the field of "Dynamics":
(a) A new position at the level of Lecturer
(b) A "promotion-opened" position at the level of Associate Professor
