Emeritus Professor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He was born in Dicastro, Fthiotis on the 4th of September, 1935. He obtained his B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Athens, Greece (1959) and a second degree on Agronomy Surveyor from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (1965), where he also completed his Ph.D. (1969). He worked as Head assistant at the National Technical University of Athens, before joining the University of Thessaloniki. He is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and of the ICOMOS. His scientific research includes Astronomy and Topography. |

Professor (retired), Department of Physics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He was born in Levadia, Greece on the 22nd of April, 1949. He received the B.Sc. in Physics
from the University of Thessaloniki (1973), the M.Sc. in
Astrophysics from the University of Maryland, U.S.A. (1976)
and the Ph.D. in Astrophysics-Space physics from the
same University in 1979. He has worked as a Postdoctoral
Fellow in APL, U.S.A., as Research Professor University of
Maryland, U.S.A. and as Assistant Professor and Associate
Professor at the University of Thessaloniki before elected in
the present position. His research interests are in High
Energy Astrophysics, Solar Physics and Plasma Physics
and he has published more than 100 scientific papers in refereed journals and more than 40 papers in conference proceedings and special volumes / books. He has published two textbooks (“Introduction to plasma Physics” and “Differential Multivariable Calculus”). He is a member of the European Physics Society (E.P.S.) and of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.). |

Voglis Nikolaos (1948-2006)
Director of the Research Center of Astronomy and Applied Mathematics of the Academy of Athens, Greece. He was born in Avlon, Attica Greece and received the B.Sc. in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1971) and the Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Athens, Greece (1984). He worked as Lecturer (1996-1990), Assistant Professor (1990-1996) and Associate Professor (1996-2000) in the Department of Physics, University of Athens and as Director of Research in the Research Center for Astronomy of the Academy of Athens (2000- 2001). His scientific interests were mainly the Dynamical Astronomy, the Galaxy Formation, the Cosmology, the Chaotic Dynamics and the Solitons. He had published more than 35 scientific papers in refereed journals and more than 40 papers in conference proceedings and special volumes / books. He has been honored with the Award of the Academy of Athens. He was a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.). |
