He received the B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1972) and the Ph.D. from the same Department (1984). He is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the Union of Greek Mathematicians, the Union of Greek Physicists and founding member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.). His main scientific interest is the Observational Astronomy and he has published more than 47 scientific papers in refereed journals and 27 in conference proceedings and special volumes/books. He has written two textbooks: “Observational Astronomy” and “Differential Calculus of functions of one variable” and three other books: “Astronomical Planisphere & “An introduction to the night sky”, “Aratos of Soli, Phaenomena”,”Near Space Environment of the Earth, History, Technology and Science of Astronomy”. |

He has published more than 40 scientific papers in refereed journals and more than 10 in conference

Associate at the University of Maryland, U.S.A (1980-82), Lecturer (1982-85), Assistant Professor (1985-93) and Associate Professor (1993-2007) at the University of Thessaloniki. He has served as Director, Section of
Astrophysics, Astronomy and Mechanics (1998-99) at the same University. He is a member of the International
Astronomical Union (IAU), of the European Astronomical
Union (E.A.S.), of the Hellenic Astronomical Society

Director of the Research Center of Astronomy and Applied Mathematics of the Academy of Athens, Greece. He was born in Avlon, Attica Greece and received the B.Sc. in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1971) and the Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Athens, Greece (1984). He worked as Lecturer (1996-1990), Assistant Professor (1990-1996) and Associate Professor (1996-2000) in the Department of Physics, University of Athens and as Director of Research in the Research Center for Astronomy of the Academy of Athens (2000- 2001). His scientific interests were mainly the Dynamical Astronomy, the Galaxy Formation, the Cosmology, the Chaotic Dynamics and the Solitons. He had published more than 35 scientific papers in refereed journals and more than 40 papers in conference proceedings and special volumes / books. He has been honored with the Award of the Academy of Athens. He was a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.). |

Born in Thessalonki, she graduated from the Dept. of Mathematics of Aristotle University in 1974.
She was employed as Assistant to the Dept. of Mathematics, assigned to the operation of the mainframe University Computer and the innovative administrative applications of Information Systems.
On a sabbatical 1977-1980, and with the support of British Council she conducted post graduate study and research in the Dept of Astronomy of Manchester University. She was awarded the PhD Doctorate, by the supervision of Prof. Zdenek Kopal, of Victoria University of Manchester in Mathematical Astronomy in 1980. She continued her service at the Dept. of Mathematics of Aristotle University in the Section of Computer Science and Numerical Analysis, as Lecturer, as Assistant Professor after 1990, and as Associate Professor in 2006-2007.
She was occupied with research and applications of Numerical Analysis and Computers in Celestial Mechanics and with teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Numerical Analysis and Computational Mathematics.
She is a member of Greek Mathematical Society, of the Greek Astronomical Society, and regular reviewer to the Zentralblatt fur Mathematik, and recently to the periodical Planetary and Space Science.
She published numerous papers in international scientific periodicals and conferences, and she supervised two (Ph.D.) Doctorate Dissertations and numerous Diploma projects (M.Sc.) of postgraduate students. She was examiner to many Doctorate Dissertations (Ph.D.), and Diploma projects (M.Sc.).
She authored scientific textbooks for the undergraduate courses; entitled “Advanced Applied Mathematics and Numerical Methods” (1984), “Numerical Analysis” (2004), “Computational Mathematics” (2014), “teaching notes of Computational Mathematics I” (1992) and “teaching notes of Computational Mathematics II” (1993), and for postgraduate courses; “Numerical Methods with Applications to Control Theory” (2006), “Numerical Methods with Applications to the Ordinary (ODE) and Partial Differential Equations (PDE)” (2009). |

She has received two years of training in "Communication and Grouping Process” in the Athenian Institute for Anthropos (1997-2000) and a post graduate degree on the “Mental Health Promotion” (2006-2008) from the University of Athens. She worked as Research Assistant (1973–1992), Senior Researcher (1992-2002), Research Director (2002-2008) and Director of the R.C.A.A.M (2008). Her scientific interests are focused on Solar Physics, in specific small-scale magnetic fields, solar prominences, transition region dynamics and coronal loops. She has been the Representative of Greece to the Joint Organization for Solar Observations (JOSO, 1994-2005), elected member of the European Solar Physics Section (SPS) of the Joint Astrophysics Division (JAD) of the European Astronomical Society (EAS) and the European Physical Society (EPS) (2005-2008) and Member of the Greek working group for ESA (since 2005). She is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), of the European Astronomical Union (E.A.S.), of the Societe Francaise des Specialistes d’ Astronomie (S.F.S.A.), of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.), of the Hellenic Union of Physicists and of the Hellenic Society on the History of the Science and Technology. He has worked as Laboratory Assistant, Lecturer and Assistant Professor at the Physics Department of the University of Athens. His scientific interests include History and Philosophy of Astronomy and Physical Sciences, Observational Astronomy and Astrophysics, Satellite spectrophotometry of Be and variable stars. He has

He has been NAS/NRC fellow and Research Associate at the University of Maryland. He has been honored with the 3rd prize of the Gravity Foundation for the best essay in Gravity (1976). His scientific interests include Cosmology, Quasar Physics and High Energy Astrophysics and he has published many scientific papers on these matters; in one of them, he showed that the dynamics of scalar fields in the early Universe could change its expansion rate in a way that could resolve the so called Horizon problem, in a process currently known as Cosmological Inflation. He is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), of the American Astronomical Society, of the American Physics Society and a founding member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.). In 2000 he was elected a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Athens, Greece. |

He has worked as a researcher on ancient monuments at the Ministry of Culture, Greece and ten years as a senior Researcher at the Research Center of Astronomy and Applied Mathematics of the Academy of Athens, Greece. His scientific interests include Astronomy and Archaeoastronomy, History of Astronomy & Science, Geophysics, Nuclear Physics, Dosimetry and Archaeometry, and he has published more than 200 papers on these subjects, with over 80 in astronomy and related fields, and 8 Books (three in English). Efthymios Paleologou received his BSc in Physics from the University of Thessaloniki in 1976 and his PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA in 1983. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1985- 1988). In 1988 he moved to the University of Crete where he accepted a research/teaching position until 1991. He has been a researcher at IESL/FORTH between 1991-1997 and at the Department of Physics from 1997-1999. In 2002 he was appointed to a permanent position as research support specialst. He retired in 2020. |

Professor (retired), Department of Physics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He was born in Athens, Greece on the 26th of May, 1947 and got his B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Thessaloniki (1970) and his Ph.D. in General Relativity from the same University (1982). He has been Research Associate at the Department of Physics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1973-1979), Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Physics, University of Cincinnati, Ohio,USA. (1979-1982), as well as Lecturer (1982-1985), Assistant Professor (1985-1992) and Associate professor (1992-2007) at the Physics Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He has been honored with the Belgium, FNRS scholarship (1989-90). He has published more than 60 scientific papers in refereed international journals and four books in Greek on “Differential equations”, “Differential Geometry with Applications in Physics”, “Vector analysis and calculus” and “General Astronomy”. He is a member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.). |
